Faster Than a Cannonball

pop quiz: the brothers we love to hate; or is that the brothers who hate each other?, offer us a seven minute anthem

Black Friday is just two days away, so instead of shopping I thought I'd share a black ski run, a two minute trip down La Sarenne in Alpe d’Huez, with you.

Also known as the champagne run - if you complete it without stopping you deserve a glass of bubbly; this piste runs 16km from Pic Blanc at 3,300m and drops 2.2 vertical km.

Doesn't look too bad, especially at this speed; it would normally take at least 20mins.

Technically the piste is a mix of red and black runs and includes 'Le Tunnel'; famous in its own right. Probably the most difficult bits are;

  1. Moguls on the steep bits churned up by beginners, who really shouldn't be there.
  2. Avoiding beginners stood at the top of all the steep bits, who really shouldn't be there.
  3. Burning thighs; from about 10km you wonder why you are there.
  4. Finding someone to buy you a glass of champagne at the end.

Whatever ski resort you find yourself in Friday is always a good day to test yourself on a black run; it has got to be better then shopping.

pop trivia: 'Oasis' with 'Champagne Supernova', the closing track on '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?', interestingly, never a single in the UK.
